Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily transport and delivery schedules.
• Allocate jobs, deliveries and collections to drivers and vehicles.
• Communicate with drivers throughout the shift with instructions and updates.
• Monitor vehicle movements and deliveries to keep schedules on track.
• Liaise with customers, warehouse teams, depots and other departments.
• Respond to delays or route changes and escalate issues as needed.
• Ensure drivers have correct delivery paperwork and instructions.
• Maintain transport records, spreadsheets and system updates.
• Track outstanding deliveries and collections and communicate changes.
• Assist with route planning and scheduling adjustments.

Salary: £31,000 days, £35,000 nights (per annum)

Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off

About the Role

Vanta Staffing are currently recruiting for a Transport Dispatcher to join a busy transport and logistics operation based in Thame.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous experience in transport, logistics or delivery coordination who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment.

The successful candidate will support the day-to-day running of transport operations, coordinating drivers and vehicles, monitoring deliveries and collections, and ensuring transport schedules run smoothly.

This is primarily a hands‑on dispatch and coordination role rather than a supervisory position. We are looking for someone who is organised, proactive and confident communicating with drivers and other departments. Previous management or supervisory experience is not essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily transport and delivery schedules.
• Allocate jobs, deliveries and collections to drivers and vehicles.
• Communicate with drivers throughout the shift, providing instructions and operational updates.
• Monitor vehicle movements and delivery progress to ensure schedules are maintained.
• Liaise with customers, warehouse teams, depots and other departments.
• Respond to delays, route changes and operational issues, escalating problems where necessary.
• Ensure drivers have the correct delivery instructions and paperwork.
• Maintain accurate transport records, spreadsheets and system updates.
• Track outstanding deliveries and collections and communicate any changes.
• Assist with route planning and scheduling adjustments.
• Support the efficient use of vehicles and transport resources.
• Follow company procedures and relevant Health & Safety requirements.
• Provide general administrative and operational support to the transport team.

About You

• Previous experience in transport, logistics, dispatch or delivery coordination is desierable
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Confident communicating with drivers, customers and colleagues.
• Good computer skills
• Able to manage changing priorities in a busy environment.
• A practical approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
• Good attention to detail when handling paperwork and updating records.
• Reliable, flexible and comfortable working independently when required.
• Available to work a 4-on-4-off shift pattern, covering 12-hour day or night shifts.
