Job summary

Gateshead Council is seeking a Transport Data Analyst to develop and run transport data models, analyse datasets, and provide decision‑ready insights to support planning and policy. You will work with GIS, Power BI and other tools to produce dashboards and reports for business cases while maintaining data quality and security.

Qualifications

• Experience working with data including collecting, validating and interpreting information.
• Strong numeracy, literacy and IT skills with Excel proficiency.
• Experience producing reports, dashboards, visualisations or maps to support decision‑making.
• Confidence learning new software and analytical techniques such as GIS, Power BI, SQL, R or Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and run transport data models to support planning and business cases.
• Analyse and interpret transport datasets to forecast demand and model patterns.
• Collect, clean and manage data from traffic counts, surveys and GIS sources.
• Provide accurate analysis and modelling outputs aligned with guidance and objectives.
• Respond to customer requests for transport data and provide insights for decision making.
• Support delivery of a high‑quality, customer‑focused transport data service.
