Job summary

Streamline Search is seeking a Transport Controller to join the operations team in a hands-on role within container haulage. You will plan daily work, monitor routes, and liaise with drivers to keep the operation efficient and cost-effective.

Based in the UK, this on-site role requires coordinating with drivers and the Fleet Team, handling delays, and ensuring compliance with drivers' hours and port procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in container haulage, port transport or UK transport operations.
• Understanding of container movements and UK port operations.
• Experience planning or coordinating vehicles and drivers.
• Knowledge of VBS bookings and port procedures.
• Understanding of drivers' hours and transport compliance.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Able to work under pressure with a busy workload.
• Supervisory experience would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Responsibilities

• Plan and allocate daily work across a fleet of vehicles.
• Route vehicles and plan efficiently.
• Monitor jobs and deal with delays or operational issues.
• Expedite work where required.
• Manage vehicle and driver utilisation.
• Monitor drivers' hours, workloads, overtime and nights out.
• Make VBS bookings and help control transport costs.
• Liaise with drivers throughout the day and resolve operational issues.
• Work closely with the Fleet Team to ensure vehicles and equipment are available.
• Complete daily and weekly transport administration.
• Monitor routing and identify areas for efficiency improvement.
• Escalate any ongoing service, cost or operational issues.
