Job summary

Streamline Search is recruiting for an established container haulage and transport company to hire a Port Operator for their operations team in Stanford-le-Hope. This hands-on role involves planning and allocating work with drivers and the fleet team, monitoring vehicles and dealing with delays to keep the operation efficient and cost-effective.

The role includes on-site hours, with one weekend on-call approximately every 6-8 weeks. Salary ranges £35,000-£45,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in container haulage or UK port operations.
• Ability to plan or coordinate vehicles and drivers.
• Knowledge of VBS bookings and port procedures.

Responsibilities

• Plan and allocate daily work across a fleet of vehicles.
• Route vehicles and ensure efficient planning.
• Monitor jobs and address delays or issues.
• Expedite work and control transport costs.
• Manage vehicle and driver utilisation.
• Monitor drivers' hours and nights out.
• Liaise with drivers to resolve issues.
• Work with Fleet Team to ensure availability.
• Complete daily/weekly transport administration.
• Identify efficiency improvements.
• Escalate service, cost or operational issues.
