Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day student transport services with external providers; support route planning and monitor service quality.
  • Serve as the primary contact for transport enquiries, incidents and service issues; liaise with students, parents, staff and providers.
  • Oversee fleet bookings, servicing, permits, MOTs and vehicle renewals; maintain records and generate reports.
  • Support the management of Estates compliance software and related data; assist staff with queries and escalate issues.

Role: Transport and Compliance System Coordinator
Location: Shuttleworth College – Old Warden – Though could be Bedford or Kettering for the right candidate
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £27,717 and £32,515 per annum DOE and Qualifications, 27 days annual leave plus Bank holidays, People’s Pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week - 52 weeks per year
Contract Type: Permanent - Full Time

About The Role
We are currently seeking a Transport and Compliance System Coordinator to join our Estates and Facilities department at The Bedford College Group. Successful candidates will posses strong administrative skills.
As a Transport and Compliance System Coordinator, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
  • Student Transport Coordination & Service Delivery - Manage the day‑to‑day operation of student transport services, coordinating external providers, supporting route planning, monitoring service quality, and ensuring safe, efficient and reliable transport provision for learners.
  • Stakeholder Communication & IncidentManagement - Act as the primary point of contact for transport‑related enquiries, providing support to students, parents, staff and transport providers, while managing incidents, complaints and service issues through to resolution.
  • Fleet, Compliance & Operational Administration - Oversee internal minibus bookings, fleet servicing, permits, MOTs and vehicle renewals, while maintaining accurate records, producing reports, and supporting transport‑related administration and compliance requirements.
  • Compliance Systems & Data Management - Support the management of Estates compliance software, maintain and update records, produce performance and compliance reports, assist staff with system queries, and elevate issues to support effective operational management.
  • Continuous Improvement & Professional Standards - Contribute to service improvement initiatives, work collaboratively with departments across the Group, support first aid or fire warden responsibilities where required, and promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, health and safety, and continuous professional development.
About You
  • Operational, Transport & Administration Experience - Experience within Estates & Facilities, transport, compliance or similar operational environments, with a strong background in departmental administration, customer service, and working effectively within established procedures and guidelines.
  • Organisation, Planning & Problem Solving - Able to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritise and organise workloads effectively, manage resources, use initiative to resolve problems, and consistently deliver high‑quality outcomes.
  • Communication, Collaboration & IT Skills - Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and the confidence to learn new systems while collaborating effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Professionalism, Leadership & Continuous Improvement - Demonstrates high performance, reliability and punctuality, adopts a proactive and flexible approach, supports knowledge sharing through coaching and mentoring, and contributes positively to team and organisational objectives.
  • Flexibility, Mobility & Commitment - Willing to undertake all required training, be available for occasional out‑of‑hours contact, holds a full clean driving licence with access to a vehicle, and can travel and work across all Bedford College Group locations as required.

06 October 2026 - Interviews to be held at Shuttleworth, but role could be based at Bedford or Kettering depending on successful candidate.
