Job summary

NHS National Services Scotland is seeking a Healthcare Support Worker to join the Patient Services Laboratories team at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The role provides essential technical and administrative support to Biomedical Scientists, including preparing samples, maintaining records, and assisting with blood product handling under supervision.

The post is a 12-month fixed term, working 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexibility for shift work and potential out-of-hours service.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and teamwork.
• Detail-oriented and well organised.
• Will undertake laboratory-based training and mandatory training.

Responsibilities

• Receive and prepare samples.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
• Monitor stock levels.
• Support the issue and management of blood products under supervision.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality service.
