Job summary

SSEN Transmission, part of SSE, is seeking a Lead Principal Engineer – Transformers based in Scotland with 50% in-office work across Glasgow, Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness. You will lead a team of transformer experts, set technical direction and engage with industry forums to drive standardisation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with Chartered Engineer status or pursuing.
• Proven track record leading high-performing teams of SMEs or engineering professionals.
• Experience as Technical Authority with assurance leadership and standardisation.
• Deep technical experience with transmission-voltage wound plant and grid transformers.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop transformer and wound plant experts within Network Engineering.
• Drive innovation and standardisation for Transformers with industry forums (CIGRE, ENA, IEC).
• Develop, maintain and own specifications and guidance for electrical wound plant on the Transmission network.
• Act as senior Design Authority and Technical Authority for transformer engineering and lead technical assurance across projects.
• Review supplier proposals and oversee testing and audits to ensure equipment is proven and fit for use.
