Job summary

SSE seeks a Lead Principal Engineer – Transformers to provide technical leadership for transformer, reactor and wound plant specialists within Network Engineering. Based in Scotland, you will guide specifications, assure projects and promote sound value-based engineering decisions across the Transmission business.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering with Chartered Engineer status or working towards.
• Proven track record leading a high performing team of subject matter experts.
• Deep technical experience in design, specification, testing, installation or maintenance of transmission-voltage wound plant.
• Strong knowledge of National Grid, British, European and international standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop transformer and wound plant experts within Network Engineering, coordinating priorities and building technical capability.
• Drive innovation and standardisation for Transformers, engaging with industry forums to share best practices.
• Develop, maintain and own specifications and guidance for electrical wound plant used on the Transmission network.
• Act as senior Design Authority and Technical Authority for transformer and reactor engineering, leading technical assurance and key engineering decisions.
