Job summary

Biffa is hiring a Transfer Station Operative in Harrogate. You will weigh vehicles, assist with recycling movements and help keep the yard safe and organized, using equipment such as a telehandler. You’ll be part of a close-knit team in a busy, but friendly industrial environment.

Role requires operating the weighbridge, supporting loading/unloading, and maintaining safety and cleanliness on site. Full training provided, and a positive team attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• Plant certificates, Fork Lift Truck and telehandler are required.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather.
• Positive attitude, works well in a team.
• Willing to learn new skills and adapt.

Responsibilities

• Operate the site weighbridge with full training provided.
• Assist with safe handling of recycling and loading with telehandler.
• Support drivers with loading/unloading activities.
• Keep the yard clean, safe and well organised.
• Carry out routine checks on equipment and report issues.
• Work as part of a small team in a non-hazardous waste environment.
• Follow site procedures to meet environmental and operational standards.
• Be flexible to cover other yard and operational duties as needed.
