Job summary

Biffa Waste Services in Glasgow is seeking a Transfer Station Supervisor on a Monday to Friday back shift. The role involves overseeing daily operations, leading a team of operatives, and ensuring production targets while maintaining health and safety and environmental compliance.

Experience in waste operations is beneficial but not required as full training is provided. You will manage mobile plant operations, coordinate maintenance, and liaise with suppliers.

Qualifications

• WAMITAB Certificate of Technical Competence (COTC) is advantageous.
• Experience operating mobile plant, including loading shovels and 360° grab machines.
• FLT experience is a plus but not essential.
• Basic computer skills including Word and Excel.
• Full Weighbridge training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate, and manage transfer station operatives, including performance, training, and absence management.
• Oversee mobile plant operations, coordinating maintenance, breakdowns, and supplier liaison.
• Ensure all operations comply with site licence, PPC permit, environmental legislation, and Health & Safety standards.
• Drive efficiency and cost control, meeting budget targets and improving operational performance.
• Complete administrative duties, including daily checks, stock management, and reporting.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and deputise for the Operations Manager as required.
