Job summary

Anson McCade is seeking a Technical Training Instructor to join a premier training establishment on the south coast. The role focuses on delivering hands-on and classroom-based instruction in electronic systems and fault-finding, mentoring trainees, and helping modernise course materials.

You will work with a supportive team, using live equipment and simulations, to prepare service personnel for high-reliability technical roles within the national defence sector.

Qualifications

• A solid background in electrical, electronic, or systems engineering in high-reliability environments (military, maritime, aerospace).
• Genuine, practical fault-finding and maintenance experience.
• Interest in mentoring, coaching, or passing knowledge to others.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across diverse teams.
• Eligibility to hold, or willingness to obtain, UK Security Clearance (SC) and an Enhanced DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on and classroom instruction covering electronic systems, fault-finding and core engineering principles.
• Teach service personnel using live equipment and modern simulation tools.
• Mentor and assess trainees tailoring approach to learning styles.
• Contribute to ongoing modernisation of course materials.
• Work with instructors and technical specialists to maintain a high learning standard.
• Maintain a safe, professional learning environment.

Location: Fareham, Hampshire (On-site)

Salary: Up to £39,250 per annum (FTE £39,950), pro-rated for a term-time working pattern

Contract: Permanent, full-time, term-time only (45 weeks per year)

A major, long-term programme is underway to modernise technical training for the UK's naval forces, backed by a well-established consortium of industry and defence training specialists.

As part of this multi-year investment in the next generation of military engineers, we're looking for a Technical Training Instructor to join a highly respected training establishment on the south coast.

This is a rare opportunity to move away from tools, shifts, or deployments, and instead put your engineering knowledge to work shaping the skills of trainee engineers — without giving up the sense of purpose that comes from supporting national defence.

What you'll be doing:

• Delivering hands-on and classroom-based instruction covering electronic systems, fault-finding, and core engineering principles
• Teaching service personnel undertaking their technical training, using both live equipment and modern simulation tools
• Mentoring and assessing trainees, tailoring your approach to different learning styles
• Contributing to the ongoing modernisation and improvement of course materials
• Working alongside a close-knit, supportive team of instructors and technical specialists
• Helping maintain a safe, professional, and high-standard learning environment

What we're looking for:

• Genuine, practical fault-finding and maintenance experience
• A real interest in mentoring, coaching, or passing your knowledge on to others

• Eligibility to hold, or willingness to obtain, UK Security Clearance (SC) and an Enhanced DBS check

You do not need previous teaching or instructing experience to apply. If you have the right technical background, full support and funding will be provided to help you gain a recognised teaching qualification once in post.
