Job summary

South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Trainee Systemic Family Practitioner to deliver evidence-based psychological therapy to children, young people and families in CYPMHS across Sunderland, South Tyneside or Gateshead. The role includes training for a Post Graduate Diploma in Systemic Family Practice at Northumbria University, with start in January 2027.

The post holder will work in a multi-disciplinary team, engage diverse populations, and complete the PGDip within 12

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in teaching, nursing, SW, AHP, counselling or psychological therapy.
• Experience in CYP mental health services and delivering assessments/treatments.
• Experience in community or educational settings and safeguarding knowledge.
• Willingness to undertake and complete a 12-month PG Dip in Systemic Family Practice.

Responsibilities

• Work within CYPMHS across Sunderland, South Tyneside or Gateshead.
• Engage with children, young people and families using systemic interventions.
• Deliver evidence-based therapies and participate in the training course at Northumbria University.
• Meet service targets and work flexibly in various settings.
