Job summary

Accent Group Limited in Stockton is recruiting a Trainee Surveyor. You will shadow surveyors, perform property inspections, assess repairs, and coordinate with contractors to meet high standards, including Awaab's Law requirements to protect tenant health.

This two-year, 35-hour week contract is hybrid, with initial office-based training and at least one day per week in the office after training, plus regional travel for training and meetings.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs including English and Maths (level 4/C or above).
  • Willingness to work towards Level 3 BTech in Built Environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills; IT literacy with company software.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow experienced surveyors and learn hands-on inspection techniques.
  • Carry out property inspections and assess repairs.
  • Coordinate with contractors to ensure standards are met, in line with Awaab's Law.

Trainee Surveyor

Location: Hybrid, Stockton. The role will initially be office-based during the training period. After training, a minimum of one day per week in the office will be required, in line with our Surveyor roles. Candidates must also be willing to travel across the region and occasionally to other regions for training and meetings.

Salary: £32,936 per annum (including car allowance)

2 year Fixed Term Contract, 35 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

About the role

Join our team as a Trainee Surveyor and help deliver high-quality maintenance services to our customers. You'll carry out property inspections, assess repairs, and work with contractors to ensure standards are met - especially in light of new responsibilities under Awaab's Law, which requires prompt action on damp, mould, and emergency repairs to protect tenant health.

This is a hands-on learning role where you'll shadow experienced surveyors, build your technical and customer service skills, and work towards a professional qualification. We're looking for someone with the right attitude - resilient, proactive, and committed to improving lives. Strong communication, IT skills, teamwork, and a willingness to learn are essential.

Trainee Surveyor Salary

The spot salary for this post is £31,686 per annum for applicants who fully meet the requirements of the post. If you're still developing some of the skills or experience, you can start at a salary 5% or 10% below the spot rate, with clear support and progression opportunities to reach the full amount.

You'll also receive a car allowance starting at £1,250 per annum.

About you
  • A keen interest in building maintenance and working alongside contractors to deliver reactive maintenance services
  • Willingness to work towards and achieve Level 3 BTech in the Built Environment
  • Minimum of 5 x GCSE, level 4 (grade C ) or above including English and Maths
  • Evidence of regular study in support of continued professional development
  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • IT literacy, including proficiency in using company operational software systems
