Job summary

Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is offering an 18-month Trainee Sonographer training post in the Ultrasound Department. The role combines hands-on ultrasound training in general medicine, gynaecology and obstetrics with CASE-accredited academic study at the University of Cumbria.

Applicants should hold HCPC registration and have at least two years post-qualification experience in diagnostic imaging; the course starts January 2027 and no ultrasound qualification is required

Qualifications

• Minimum 2:2 BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Minimum of 2 years post-qualification clinical experience.
• Previous experience in a diagnostic imaging environment.
• Nice to have: Relevant postgraduate study, IT experience with RIS, up-to-date techniques and IR(ME)R/IRR knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Practical ultrasound training in general medicine, gynaecology and obstetrics.
• Academic study on a CASE-accredited postgraduate ultrasound course at the University of Cumbria.
• Work towards qualification as a competent independent ultrasound practitioner.
