Job summary

NHS Professionals is advertising a 12-month bank ultrasound post across partner NHS Trusts. The role focuses on ultrasound examinations, clinical reporting for referring clinicians, and safe equipment use, with supervision of trainees. A valid radiographer HCPC registration and ultrasound qualification are required.

Responsibilities include patient communication, record-keeping, adherence to safety policies, and potential involvement in service development and audits.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in medical, early pregnancy or gynaecological ultrasound (DCR, BSc, PGD or MSc).
• HCPC registration as a radiographer.
• Ultrasound registration relevant to the role.

Responsibilities

• Produce clear, timely reports for referring clinicians and keep patient records complete and accurate.
• Carry out ultrasound examinations and explain stages to patients.
• Manage safe and effective use of ultrasound equipment.
• Escalate concerns and follow referral pathways.
• Supervise and train less experienced staff; contribute to training.
