Job summary

Trapeze Recruitment Services Limited is assisting a fast-growing service-based company in recruiting a Trainee Service Engineer. You will install, maintain and repair vacuum packaging machinery and tabletop slicers at customer sites, with thorough hands-on training provided.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 07:00–16:00, with travel across the UK including Greater London. You will hold a full driving licence, join an on-call rota (1 in 5 weeks) with retainer for OOH and additional payments for

Qualifications

• Experience with single-phase (230V) and three-phase (440V) electrical systems preferred.
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel to Greater London.
• Technically minded with ability to learn new skills quickly.
• Confident communicating with customers and explaining equipment use.
• Able to work independently at customer sites while managing jobs safely and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair vacuum packaging machinery and tabletop slicers at customer sites.
• Repair and refurbish equipment in the workshop.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide timely solutions.
• Provide training and support to customers on equipment use.
• Document service activities and maintain accurate records of repairs.
• Collaborate with engineering to improve product performance based on field feedback.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations on-site.

Job description

Our client is a fast growing, service-based company supporting the butchery, hospitality, packaging, processing, and medical sectors across the UK. They provide engineering support, servicing, breakdowns and equipment solutions for food-related operations.

If you're passionate about engineering, enjoy working in a hands-on environment, and have experience working with both single-phase (230V) and three-phase (440V) power supplies, we'd love to hear from you.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the business at a key stage of its growth and development.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 16:00, including a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

A company van, fuel card, tools and equipment and in-house training and development is provided.

Responsibilities of Trainee Service Engineer

• Install, maintain, and repair equipment at customer sites - predominantly vacuum packaging machinery and tabletop slicers.
• Repair and refurbish equipment in the workshop.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery.

• Provide training and support to customers on the proper use of equipment.

Skills and experiences required of Trainee Service Engineer

• Experience working with single-phase (230V) and three-phase (440V) electrical systems whether it be as a previous role or as a hobby is preferred as this is a hands-on practical role
• Experience in a similar role is very advantageous however not essential as full training will be given
• Technically minded with the ability to pick up new skills quickly
• Confident communicating with customers, providing technical support and explaining the correct use of equipment.
• Able to work independently at customer sites while managing jobs safely, professionally and efficiently.
• Must have a full driving licence and be prepared to travel into Greater London

On call rota for 1 in 5 weeks (Either overnight stays or out of hours callouts - retainer paid for OOH + additional payment for any attended callouts. Overnight payment per night paid).
