Job summary

EIP in Leeds is seeking a Trainee Patent Attorney specializing in software, AI and computing inventions. The role offers hands-on drafting and client/inventor contact from day one and opportunities to work on machine learning, data processing and computer-implemented innovations.

September 2027 is the standard start date, but we are open to earlier joining for the right candidate. The Leeds team provides a collaborative, high-impact environment with private medical insurance and hybrid working

Qualifications

Academic degree in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, artificial intelligence or a closely related discipline.
PhD welcome, but not essential - expertise and capability matter most.
Curious, analytical and excited by challenging technology.
Excellent written and verbal English, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
Meticulous attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to work independently.
Motivated to develop your networking skills and contribute to business development.

Responsibilities

Hands-on work from day one with regular client and inventor contact.
Work at the cutting edge of machine learning, data processing and computer-implemented inventions.
Collaborate with the Leeds team on high-value patent matters.
