Job summary

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) invites applications for a Trainee Obstetrics and Gynaecology Sonographer. The post requires a Radiography background and a commitment to postgraduate PgC training in obstetrics and gynaecology ultrasound, aiming to work as a Sonographer at MFT.

The role includes cross-site placements, training at St Marys/Wythenshawe, and attendance at Salford University from January 2027 as part of the academic programme and a learning agreement.

Qualifications

• BSc Radiography degree with 1st or 2nd class honours.
• Registration as a radiographer with the HCPC.
• Evidence of CPD.
• Evidence of further postgraduate studies an advantage.
• Evidence of completion of e-LFH.
• Knowledge of obstetrics and gynaecology ultrasound.
• Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy and complex pathology.
• Experience in NHS trust setting or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years post graduate experience in radiography.
• Minimum 1 year as an employee at MFT.

Responsibilities

• Training will be delivered mainly at St. Marys and/or Wythenshawe; may be required to attend other site placements to gain experience in all aspects of obstetrics and gynaecology ultrasound.
• Cross-site service delivery on qualification will be a requirement of this post.
• Be part of a team delivering a high-quality ultrasound service and participate in clinical training for ultrasound.
• Academic elements of the PgC course will be delivered at the University of Salford starting January 2027; attendance is a prerequisite.
