Job summary

Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Sonographer to join our collaborative ultrasound team at Bedford Hospital. The role offers exposure to general, gynaecological, obstetric, MSK and small-parts scanning within a busy network of departments.

You will contribute to a robust in-house training and preceptorship programme and participate in the development of the next generation of ultrasound professionals, including ultrasound trainees each academic year.

Qualifications

• Diploma/degree in radiography or equivalent.
• Professional registration with HCPC.
• Postgraduate qualification in ultrasound is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Organise and coordinate workload within the area to ensure examinations are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.
• Rotate across the Main Ultrasound Department, Obstetric Ultrasound Department and Community Diagnostic Centre, performing and reporting a wide range of ultrasound examinations.
• Perform general, gynaecological and obstetric scans, DVT and small parts examinations as required.
• Produce accurate and timely reports using CRIS and PACS.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the FASP protocol for obstetric scanning and comply with GROW version 2.0 guidance.
• Maintain high professional standards and contribute to a safe, patient-centred ultrasound service.
