Job summary

Wabtec Napier Turbochargers in Lincoln designs and manufactures industrial turbochargers for power generation and rail sectors. We seek a hands-on CNC Machinist to contribute across turning, milling and grinding within a team-driven environment.

The role requires at least 3 years of relevant industry experience, strong communication, and the ability to read engineering drawings. NVQ Level 2 is required, with NVQ Level 3 training provided by Napier.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in an engineering discipline.
  • Must work towards NVQ Level 3; modules provided by Napier.
  • At least 3 years relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machines across turning, milling and grinding processes.
  • Read engineering drawings and verify with calibrated measuring equipment.
  • Collaborate in a team to meet production targets and safety standards.

Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established local business that designs, manufactures and tests industrial turbochargers supplied into the power generation, marine and rail traction industries.

The vacancy will require a flexible approach covering CNC Machining skills or development of skills across the following Production areas:

  • Turning
  • Milling
  • Grinding
Qualifications:
  • NVQ Level 2 in an engineering discipline
  • It is a requirement that the successful candidate will attain NVQ Level 3. Modules to be provided by Napier
Experience:
  • At least 3 years relevant industry experience
Skills:
  • Be self-motivated and have good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Understand the need to work as part of a team and be committed to the targets and measures of that team
  • Show good timekeeping and be flexible in working shift patterns
  • Demonstrate the ability to read engineering drawings and use a variety of calibrated measuring equipment
  • Have a good awareness of the importance of a safe working environment and duties to oneself and others within the company's EHS policy
