Job summary

Napier Turbochargers, part of Wabtec Corporation, is based in Lincoln and seeks a CNC Machinist to join our machining cells. You will work with milling, lathes and grinding machines, performing 5-axis tasks and measuring with calibrated equipment.

Experience: time-served mechanical apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3, plus 4+ years in industrial engineering. A strong team player with a proactive, safety-focused mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Recognised time served mechanical engineering apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3.
• Desirable: minimum 4 years industrial engineering experience.
• Experience machining rotating equipment, engines or turbochargers.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

What you’ll be doing:

As a CNC Machinist, you will play a key role in the machining cells, utilising milling, lathes and grinding machines.

You’ll gain exposure to multiple manufacturing, testing and engineering activities including:

• 5 Axis machining
• Milling
• Turning
• Grinding
• Development and production testing
• Measurement using calibrated equipment
• Continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

Essential:

• Recognised time served mechanical engineering apprenticeship or equivalent NVQ Level 3

Experience:

Desirable but not essential:

• A minimum of 4 years relevant industrial engineering experience
• Experience of machining rotating equipment, engines, turbochargers or similar mechanical assemblies

Skills:

• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience using a range of calibrated measuring equipment
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• A self‑motivated approach with a commitment to delivering high-quality work
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute towards departmental objectives
• A flexible attitude towards shift patterns and overtime when required
