Job summary

Holt Engineering is recruiting a Trainee Machine Operator to join a well-established manufacturing company based in Wareham. The role offers full training on specialist machinery and a clear path to develop machine-operating skills in a modern production setting.

The ideal candidate will bring a practical, hands-on approach, good attention to detail, and reliability. Prior experience in production is advantageous, but training is provided to build competency in operating the machinery.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in production/manufacturing environment preferred.
• Hands-on and practical approach to work.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Willing to learn and operate machinery with training provided.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor production machinery to manufacture products to specification.

The Role

• Operating and monitoring production machinery to manufacture products to the required specification.
• Loading materials and components into machinery and ensuring production runs smoothly.
• Carrying out quality checks throughout the manufacturing process.
• Following detailed work instructions and production procedures.
• Identifying and reporting any faults, defects or issues with machinery or products.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
• Working as part of a team to achieve daily production targets.
• Receiving full training to become competent in operating specialist manufacturing machinery.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience within a production, manufacturing, assembly or machine operating environment would be advantageous.
• A practical and hands‑on approach to work.
• Good attention to detail and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Comfortable working with machinery and learning new processes.
• Reliable, punctual and keen to develop new skills.
• Previous electronics or engineering experience would be beneficial but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
