Job summary

SSE plc offers a structured Trainee Linesperson programme based in Aldershot area, with training across LV, 11kV and 33kV networks. Earn while you learn in a hands-on role, with a buddying system and a clear path to authorisations.

The 18–24 month programme includes fully funded training, salary progression, and a company vehicle towards the end. Expected progression leads from starting salary to around £55,000 OTE with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Be customer‑focused with a natural ability to build relationships with customers and the public.
• Hand skills: using hand tools, stripping meter tails and fixing meters to boards.
• Strong focus on Health & Safety and adherence to safety standards.
• Be flexible and able to travel to training centres and regional locations.
• Must hold a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair overhead electricity networks.
• Construct and upgrade LV, 11kV and 33kV infrastructure.
• Work safely and promote a safety‑first culture.
• Deliver excellent customer service during planned and emergency work.
• Work at height as part of the role.
