Job summary

SSE is recruiting a Trainee Craftsperson to join our electricity distribution projects. Base locations include Oban, Dunoon or Lochgilphead. You will train to undertake construction, connections and repair work across networks up to 11/33kV, learning safe working practices and developing skills outdoors.

Training at our Perth facility supports career progression toward LV/HV authorisations as you gain experience and contribute to keeping communities connected and the net-zero transition.

Qualifications

• A full UK Driving Licence is essential.
• Interest in building a career in electricity distribution or utilities.
• Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Gain skills to carry out construction, new connections and repair work across overhead and underground networks from LV to 11/33kV.
• Learn safe working practices and contribute to a strong safety culture.
• Develop practical knowledge while working outdoors.
• Attend training at our Perth facility.
• Support network operations during storms and after-hours as training progresses.
• Work towards LV/HV switching authorisations and progression to SAP authorisation.
