Job summary

Specsavers Hanley in Hanley town centre is seeking a proactive Trainee Lab Technician to join our optical lab team. You’ll work with precise, computer-controlled equipment to cut lenses, assemble frames, and tint lenses while learning the trade.

This full-time role (37.5 hours) includes weekend work, a competitive hourly pay between £11.00 and £12.85, a monthly bonus, and the Specsavers Perks program offering employee discounts.

Responsibilities

• Read lens and frame specifications from prescriptions.
• Use blocking and glazing machines to cut lenses to shape.
• Assemble lenses into frames and tint lenses for UV protection.
• Order frames and lenses and perform quality checks on glasses.
• Maintain good housekeeping and machine maintenance.

The role:

We'll provide all the training you will need to be able to confidently perform the following tasks:

• Reading lens and frame specifications from prescriptions
• Using blocking and glazing machines to cut lenses to the correct shape and fit
• Assembling lenses into frames
• Tinting of lenses to provide UV protection and a variety of colours
• Ordering frames and lenses
• Quality checking of completed glasses
• Good housekeeping and machine maintenance
