Job summary

Surelock McGill Group is seeking a Trainee Installation Engineer to join our nationwide installation and service team. Based in Greater Manchester, with work across London and Bristol, you’ll be trained to install, service and maintain our security doors, locks and related products at customer sites throughout the UK.

You don’t need previous locksmith or door engineering experience; we’re looking for a practical, reliable person with a good attitude who is willing to learn and travel as

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence is required.

Salary: £25,000-£35,000 per annum, DOE

Surelock McGill Group is looking for practical, reliable people to join our installation and service team.

You don't need to be an experienced locksmith or door engineer.

We can teach you the technical side of the job.

What we're really looking for is someone with a good attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn. If you're practical, enjoy working with your hands and don't want to be stuck in the same workplace every day, this could be a great opportunity to build a long-term career with us.

What you'll be doing

Working alongside experienced members of our team, you'll be trained to install, service and maintain specialist security doors, locks and associated products at customer sites across the UK.

No two weeks are necessarily the same. You'll work at a wide variety of interesting sites and, as your experience develops, you'll be given more responsibility and the opportunity to progress.

What we're looking for

You don't need specific industry experience. We're more interested in finding the right person.

You will need

• A full UK driving licence
• A good work ethic and positive attitude
• To be reliable and willing to learn
• To be comfortable using basic hand tools and doing practical work
• To be happy travelling and staying away from home when required
• Some flexibility with working hours, as certain projects may require early starts, late finishes or occasional weekend work
• To be comfortable dealing professionally with customers

Experience in construction, joinery, engineering, installation, maintenance, locksmithing or similar practical work would be useful, but it isn't essential.

We'll provide the training

You'll receive hands-on training from experienced engineers and learn how to install and maintain our specialist security products.

As your skills and experience grow, there will be opportunities to develop within the role and take on more responsibility.

Because some of our customers operate secure sites, you will also need to be able to successfully complete the appropriate security vetting. We will guide you through this process.
