Job summary

South Norfolk and Broadland Councils in Norwich seeks to recruit a trainee HGV Driver to join the Operations Team. You will be trained (fully funded) to obtain HGV licence, CPC modules 2 and 4, and supervision duties within a 2–6 month period, while performing waste collection as part of a team.

Role involves learning to operate in-cab tech, vehicle checks, and ensuring safe, efficient rounds with a strong customer-service focus.

Qualifications

• Full (Category B) driving licence
• Provisional HGV licence and DVLA HGV Theory and Hazard Perception tests
• Meet medical and eyesight requirements (DVLA)
• CPC modules 2 and 4 training required
• Health and safety requirements must be met
• Assist vehicle drivers and work with team to deliver services

Responsibilities

• Collecting and disposing of waste following Council-approved methods.
• Working as part of a team to deliver high-quality services.
• Complying with health and safety standards to ensure waste collection is safe and efficient.
• Meet transport management and depot safety requirements after training for HGV supervision.
• Act as supervisor to the designated crew during rounds and maintain professionalism.
