Our Finance Department plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of our operations. We take pride in our collaborative approach, working closely with all departments to provide strategic financial guidance and support. You will play a crucial role in supporting the objectives of the Finance Team in building relationships, maintaining value for money, and developing innovative ways of working.

The position will be within the Place finance team, starting at the trainee accountant (grade 2B) level, progressing through senior trainee accountant (grade 3A) to accountant (grade 3C). Progression depends on performance review and development in knowledge, skills, and experience. As a Trainee Graduate Accountant, your responsibilities will include supporting financial operations, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, budgeting, financial planning, and reporting, contributing to resource management and service delivery. You will also study towards becoming a CIPFA qualified accountant through a college-based apprenticeship.
We are seeking enthusiastic individuals with a proven track record of problem-solving, a desire to make a difference, and a strong team orientation. You should be proactive, motivated, and capable of working under strict deadlines. Experience in business partnering across finance and non-finance teams, budget preparation, and stakeholder engagement is essential. Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for implementing new finance and procurement systems are also required.
