About the Role

The post will sit within the Place finance team. The position is part of a career pathway, starting at Trainee Accountant (Grade 2B), progressing to Senior Trainee Accountant (Grade 3A), and then to Accountant (Grade 3C). Performance reviews will determine progression through these grades. The initial role is Trainee Accountant (Grade 2B). As a Trainee Graduate Accountant, you will support financial operations within our local authority, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and standards. Your responsibilities will include budgeting, financial planning, and reporting, contributing to efficient resource management and service delivery. You will study towards becoming a CIPFA qualified accountant through a college-based apprenticeship.

About You

If you have a proven track record of achieving solutions, are eager to make a difference, and want to be part of a strong team culture, we want to hear from you. We seek enthusiastic, proactive, and motivated individuals capable of working as part of a team to deliver results. You should have significant experience in business partnering across finance and non-finance teams, preparing budgets and forecasts, and possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal). The ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and support the implementation of new finance and procurement systems is essential.
