Ian Farmer Associates (1998) Ltd, a member of RSK Group Ltd, is a geotechnical ground investigation company. An exciting opportunity has become available for a Trainee Geotechnical Technician to join the team in the UKAS accredited geotechnical soil and materials laboratory based in Washington, UK.

No experience is required, and full training will be given. Ideal candidates will have an interest in a career working in a soil laboratory environment and be organised, with good numeracy and

Qualifications

• 5+ GCSEs including English, Maths and Science.
• Good numeracy and literacy: able to write clearly and accurately.
• A good eye for detail, diligent in following procedures.
• Good IT skills, especially the use of MS Excel.

Responsibilities

• Performing a variety of physical tests on soil, rock and aggregate samples to the highest level of safety and quality standards.
• Develop an understanding of the test methods and why samples are tested.
• Assisting in the calibration and maintenance of all technical equipment.
• Maintaining a clean and orderly laboratory environment.
• Ensuring the quality of work produced is to high standards and tested in a timely manner.
• Sample receipt, storage and disposal.
