Job summary

Wales & West Utilities Limited is seeking a Trainee Gas Engineer for North and Mid Wales. Starting salary £31,736 rising to £35,216 when fully trained, with average earnings around £50k for fully qualified engineers.

The role involves repairs, emergency response, and new connections, with training provided and a 12-month fixed term contract. The position requires a full UK driving licence, ability to work shifts including standby, and a commitment to upskilling.

Qualifications

• Hold a full UK Driving Licence.
• Must be able to work varied shifts including weekends/evenings and standby rota.
• Be a team player with strong customer service focus.
• Be committed to training and upskilling.
• Must communicate with colleagues, managers, officials and the public.
• Desirable: NCO Level 1 (or equivalent) training within 3–6 months.

Responsibilities

• Carry out repairs to the gas network mains and services.
• Attend emergencies and complete new customer connections work.
• Help deliver Replacement and Capital programmes for future demand.
• Receive direction from Team Leader and First Line Manager.
