Job summary

Wales & West Utilities Limited is seeking a Trainee Technician to join the Capital Delivery department and contribute to a safe, reliable gas service across the Wales and south-west England network. You will support routine and non-routine work, provide technical backing, and may lead teams as needed.

The role focuses on safe operation, cost effectiveness and continuous development of gas transportation systems, with emphasis on compliance, training and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Understanding of on-site health and safety and gas safety.
• Knowledge of Local Transmission and Distribution gas networks.
• Familiarity with New Roads and Streetworks Act activities.
• Ability to communicate with workers, management and public to carry out work.

Responsibilities

• Carry out work on the network safely and cost effectively, staying up to date with standards.
• Maintain accurate records to satisfy pipeline security and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee installation, commissioning, maintenance, calibration and repair of pipelines.
• Supervise labour and contract teams to ensure productivity and efficient practices.
