Job summary

SGN is seeking a Trainee Gas Engineer to start in September 2026 across Poole, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Weymouth, and New Milton. No CV required—we value your values, skills, and potential.

Training and equipment are provided to enable you to repair, replace, and lay new gas mains and services to keep customers safe and warm. You’ll work with experienced engineers on-site, learn through practical exposure, and support essential gas service operations.

Responsibilities

• Support engineers on site and learning from them daily during gas service and mains repair activities
• Excavation, digging in the public & private highways, laying and repairing gas pipes so you will work in various outdoor environments safely and as part of a team
• Being part of essential works to keep gas supply running to millions of people all year around and at any time day or night – standby and overtime opportunities apply for irregular hours
• You will maintain the SGN vans and tools before and after each job, ensuring your team has all the equipment to do your job safely and efficiently
