Job summary

Nolan Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Trainee EV Charger Installation Engineer in Maidstone. The role provides hands-on training with the installation, testing and commissioning of EV charging equipment across the UK, with support from experienced engineers.

You will learn maintenance, fault-finding and system installations for commercial and domestic chargers, travel nationwide, and build practical EV industry skills in a fast-growing field.

Qualifications

• Level 2/Level 3 Electrical Engineering qualifications are essential.
• AM2 completed or booked is essential.
• Full UK Driving Licence is required.
• Some practical electrical experience is desirable.
• Basic understanding of electrical installation principles and electrical safety is required.
• Knowledge of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations would be advantageous.
• Experience with EV charging exposure is beneficial.
• Recent EE graduate with AM2/Level 2/3 is a strong fit for this trainee role.

Responsibilities

• Support experienced engineers with installation, testing and commissioning of EV charging equipment.
• Assist with planned maintenance, servicing and fault-finding on EV charging systems.
• Support commercial and domestic EV charger installations, including three-phase systems.
• Assist with electrical inspection, testing and diagnosing electrical faults.
• Learn to safely install and maintain AC and DC EV charging equipment.
• Complete service reports and relevant maintenance documentation.
• Develop knowledge of EV charging tech, including smart charging and load balancing.
• Travel to customer sites across the UK with high safety and professionalism.

Salary: GBP27500 - GBP35000 per annum + + Overtime + Vehicle + Company Benefits

Salary: £27,500 - £35,000 p.a. DOE + Company Vehicle + Fuel Card + Training + Benefits

Employment type: Permanent, full-time

Location: Field-Based – Surrey / Kent and surrounding areas

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime and overnight stays when required

We are working with a rapidly growing EV infrastructure specialist delivering installation, maintenance and support services for commercial and domestic EV charging solutions across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Electrical Engineering college leaver to develop their practical skills and build a long-term career within the EV industry, working alongside experienced engineers on installations, maintenance and fault-finding.

The successful candidate must be based in Surrey, Kent or the surrounding areas, hold a full UK Driving Licence, and be comfortable with UK-wide travel and occasional overnight stays.

• Some practical electrical experience through employment, apprenticeship, work placement or college-based experience is desired.
• Basic understanding of electrical installation principles and electrical safety.
• Knowledge of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations would be advantageous.
• Previous experience working alongside qualified electricians or exposure to EV charging would be beneficial.
• Strong willingness to learn, develop technically and undertake further EV-specific training.
