Nolan Recruitment Solutions is recruiting a Trainee EV Charger Installation Engineer in Guildford, England. The role is field-based in Surrey/Kent with a permanent, full-time arrangement and a salary between £27,500 and £35,000 plus benefits.

You will work alongside experienced engineers on EV charger installations, testing, fault-finding and maintenance while traveling across the UK and occasionally staying away overnight.

Qualifications

• Level 2/Level 3 Electrical Engineering qualifications is essential.
• AM2 completed or booked is essential.
• Full UK Driving Licence is required.
• Some practical electrical experience through employment, apprenticeship, work placement or college-based experience is desired.
• Knowledge of electrical installation principles and electrical safety.

Responsibilities

• Support experienced engineers with the installation, testing and commissioning of EV charging equipment.
• Assist with planned maintenance, servicing and fault-finding on EV charging systems.
• Support commercial and domestic EV charger installations, including systems using three-phase supplies.
• Assist with electrical inspection, testing and diagnosing electrical faults.
• Learn to safely install and maintain AC and DC EV charging equipment.
• Complete service reports and relevant maintenance documentation.
• Develop knowledge of EV charging technology, including smart charging and load balancing.
• Travel to customer sites throughout the UK and maintain high standards of safety and professionalism.

Trainee EV Charger Installation Engineer

Employment type: Permanent, full-time
Location: Field-Based – Surrey / Kent and surrounding areas
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime and overnight stays when required

Company / Position

We are working with a rapidly growing EV infrastructure specialist delivering installation, maintenance and support services for commercial and domestic EV charging solutions across the UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Electrical Engineering college leaver to develop their practical skills and build a long-term career within the EV industry, working alongside experienced engineers on installations, maintenance and fault-finding.

The successful candidate must be based in Surrey, Kent or the surrounding areas, hold a full UK Driving Licence, and be comfortable with UK-wide travel and occasional overnight stays.

Experience/Skills Required

• Level 2/Level 3 Electrical Engineering qualifications is essential.
• AM2 completed or booked is essential.
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Some practical electrical experience through employment, apprenticeship, work placement or college-based experience is desired.
• Basic understanding of electrical installation principles and electrical safety.
• Knowledge of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations would be advantageous.
• Previous experience working alongside qualified electricians or exposure to EV charging would be beneficial.
• Strong willingness to learn, develop technically and undertake further EV-specific training.
