Job summary

Nolan Recruitment Solutions is seeking an EV Maintenance and Installation Engineer for a field-based role covering Surrey, Kent and surrounding areas, with UK-wide travel and occasional overnight stays.

You will perform installation, maintenance, testing and fault-finding of EV charging equipment, both AC and DC, ensuring compliance with safety standards and delivering high-quality service to clients across the UK.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services or equivalent.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and valid ECS/CSCS Card.
• Level 3 EV Charging qualification, such as City & Guilds 2921-34, EAL, NICEIC or equivalent.
• Level 3 Inspection & Testing qualification, such as 2391-52 or equivalent.
• Proven experience installing and maintaining EV charging infrastructure (AC & DC).
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, including three-phase systems.
• Full UK Driving Licence and ability to travel UK-wide with overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on AC/DC EV charging systems.
• Install, test and commission commercial and domestic EV charging equipment.
• Support larger installations involving three-phase supplies and distribution equipment.
• Complete inspection and testing to meet required standards (EICRs).
• Provide professional customer support and site handovers to facilities teams.
• Travel across the UK and maintain high safety/workmanship standards.

EV Maintenance & Installation Engineer

Employment type: Permanent, full-time
Location: Field-Based – Surrey / Kent and surrounding areas
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime and overnight stays when required
Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 p.a. DOE + Overtime + Company Vehicle + Fuel Card + Benefits

We are working with a rapidly growing EV infrastructure specialist delivering installation, maintenance and support services for commercial and domestic EV charging solutions across the UK.

This is a field-based role covering the installation, maintenance, testing, commissioning and fault-finding of EV charging equipment. The successful candidate will ideally be based in Surrey, Kent or the surrounding areas and must be comfortable with UK-wide travel and occasional overnight stays.

Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, fault-finding and repairs on AC and DC EV charging systems.

Install, test and commission commercial and domestic EV charging equipment.

Support larger commercial installations involving three-phase supplies, containment and distribution equipment.

Complete electrical inspection and testing, including EICRs, and ensure installations meet required standards.

Diagnose electrical and technical faults and provide effective solutions on customer sites.

Complete service reports, maintenance records and relevant technical documentation.

Provide professional customer support, including handovers and communication with site managers and facilities teams.

Manage workload independently while travelling throughout the UK and maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship.

Experience / Skills Required

Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services or equivalent is desired.

18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and valid ECS/CSCS Card.

Level 3 EV Charging qualification, such as City & Guilds 2921-34, EAL, NICEIC or equivalent is desired.

Level 3 Inspection & Testing qualification, such as 2391-52 or equivalent.

Proven experience installing and maintaining EV charging infrastructure, ideally covering both AC and DC equipment.

Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with experience working on three-phase systems.

Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel UK-wide with occasional overnight stays.

Experience with OCPP, charge point management software, load balancing or smart charging would be advantageous.
