Job summary

Red Rock Consultants Ltd in Birmingham is seeking a motivated Trainee Electrical Estimator to join our nationwide electrical contractor. You will support the preparation of electrical tenders from enquiry to submission and gain hands-on experience across the full tendering process.

Work with experienced estimators and the Bid Director, developing pricing, supplier quotations and commercial understanding while training under industry professionals.

Qualifications

• Interest in electrical engineering, construction or estimating.
• Electrical qualifications or be currently working towards them.
• Good IT and computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• The ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workloads effectively.
• Good communication skills and a genuine willingness to learn.
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• A positive attitude, enthusiasm and a proactive approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reviewing tender documents, drawings and specifications.
• Support the preparation of electrical estimates and tender submissions.
• Raise technical queries and Requests for Further Information to clarify tender requirements.
• Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Assist with technical and commercial evaluations of supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and internal departments to gather project information.
• Assist with preparing tender qualifications, pricing schedules and offer letters.
• Maintain accurate records of tender documentation and estimate calculations.
• Develop proficiency in estimating software and learn industry best practices.
• Work alongside experienced estimators to develop your technical and commercial understanding.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm
Working Pattern: Full-time, office-based

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience

The Role

As a Trainee Electrical Estimator, you’ll support the preparation and completion of electrical tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission.

Working alongside experienced estimators and the Bid Director, you’ll gain exposure to commercial and industrial electrical projects and develop an understanding of pricing, tender documentation, supplier quotations and commercial requirements.
