Job summary

Red Rock Consultants Ltd. in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join a nationwide electrical contractor. You will manage tenders from enquiry to submission, ensuring accurate pricing and commercial competitiveness across commercial and industrial projects.

You will work with the Bid Director, suppliers, and subcontractors to deliver timely, high-quality tenders and identify value engineering opportunities to improve profitability.

Qualifications

• Experience as Electrical Estimator in pre-design and design-and-build projects.

Location: Birmingham
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm
Working Pattern: Full-time, office-based

Salary: £45,000 - £80,000 per annum, dependent on experience

We're currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join a successful nationwide electrical contractor based in Birmingham.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced estimator to join an established and growing business, taking responsibility for the preparation and delivery of competitive electrical tenders across commercial and industrial projects.

You’ll play an important role within the estimating and bid function, working closely with the Bid Director, suppliers and subcontractors to deliver accurate, commercially focused tender submissions.

The Role

As an Electrical Estimator, you’ll manage electrical tenders from initial enquiry through to final submission, ensuring all tenders are accurately priced, commercially competitive and completed within the required timescales.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and assess tender documentation, drawings and specifications.
• Raise queries and seek clarification where required through Requests for Further Information (RFI) and Technical Queries.
• Carry out technical and commercial appraisals of supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Analyse drawings, specifications, proposals and associated documentation to prepare accurate time, material, labour and cost estimates.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and commercially advantageous solutions.
• Prepare and issue enquiries for required materials and liaise with specialist subcontractors to ensure compliance with tender requirements.
• Assess when site visits are required to understand buildability, project risks and site-specific requirements.
• Prepare detailed offer letters, including tender qualifications and relevant particulars.
• Work closely with the Bid Director throughout the tender process to ensure submissions are completed accurately and within deadline.
• Identify potential project risks and develop commercially viable solutions.

About You

• Previous experience working as an Electrical Estimator.
• Experience estimating both pre-design and design-and-build projects.
• Experience working on electrical tenders valued up to £2 million.
• Relevant electrical engineering qualifications.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design and estimating principles.
• Experience using estimating software and strong general IT skills.
• Excellent numerical, analytical and commercial awareness.
• The ability to manage and prioritise multiple workloads effectively.
• Confidence working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to identify risks and develop profitable solutions.
• A positive, enthusiastic and proactive 'can-do' attitude.
