Job summary

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks is seeking a Craftsperson to perform construction, connection and repair work across overhead and underground networks up to 11/33kV. You will promote personal and team safety while working outdoors in various weather conditions and participate in standby duties, including potential overnight stays.

You will travel for training at the Perth facility and develop skills toward LV/HV switching authorisations with potential progression to SAP authorisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in UK electricity industry involving overhead lines or underground cables; electrical experience advantageous but not essential.
• Ability to work at heights, with previous experience desirable.
• Strong commitment to safety and proactive safety culture.
• Clear, effective communication to diverse audiences.
• Enthusiasm, drive and flexible approach to changing priorities.
• Physically demanding role with standby rota.

Responsibilities

• Carry out construction, new connection and repair work across overhead and underground networks from LV up to and including 11/33kV.
• Take responsibility for personal safety and safety of colleagues; promote a strong safety culture.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including out-of-hours standby duties and short-notice attendance during storm situations, with occasional overnight stays required.
• Travel to Training Facility in Perth to attend training courses.
• Develop skills to gain LV and HV switching authorisations, with opportunities to progress towards SAP authorisation.
