Job summary

The Forward Trust in Hull is seeking a motivated Trainee Drug and Alcohol Practitioner on a 12-month fixed-term contract. You will gain hands-on experience while working towards a nationally recognised qualification, with structured guidance and supervision.

The role involves shadowing experienced colleagues, learning about caseload management, assessments, recovery planning, and multidisciplinary collaboration. You will also undertake compulsory therapy as part of the programme.

Qualifications

• Commitment to learning and development: willing to complete a nationally recognised qualification.
• Understanding of recovery and needs of vulnerable adults.
• Personal recovery commitment (if applicable): abstinence for over two years and commitment to recovery.
• Organisation and time management: able to manage workload and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and management of a caseload with deadlines.
• Assist with initial, risk and comprehensive assessments to inform treatment plans.
• Support service users to develop recovery plans and goals.
• Review ongoing care and collaborate with healthcare professionals and other agencies.
• Co-facilitate groups, programmes and interventions, including one-to-one sessions.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary and integrated working to support positive outcomes.
• Develop skills in data collection and recording for audits and reporting.
• Develop competencies for the second signatory process.
• Carry out other duties as directed by line manager.
