Job summary

The Forward Trust is seeking a motivated Trainee Drug and Alcohol Practitioner to join the Hull ReNew team on a 12-month fixed-term contract in Hull. You will receive structured training, mentoring and supervision while shadowing an experienced practitioner and progressing toward a recognised qualification.

You will split time between hands-on practice and study, with regular progress reviews to ensure you stay on track.

Qualifications

• Commitment to learning and development and willingness to work towards a nationally recognised qualification.
• Understanding of recovery and awareness of needs of vulnerable adults in recovery.
• Personal recovery commitment (if applicable): abstinence for over two years and dedication to staying in recovery.
• Organisation and time management to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
• Professional boundaries and safeguarding awareness.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to build professional relationships.
• Commitment to equality, diversity and client confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Support planning and management of a caseload with deadlines.
• Assist with initial, risk and comprehensive assessments to tailor treatment plans.
• Support service users to develop recovery plans aligned to their needs and goals.
• Review ongoing care and treatment in collaboration with healthcare professionals and agencies.
• Co-facilitate groups and one-to-one sessions in line with standards.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary and integrated working for positive outcomes.
• Develop data collection and recording skills for audits and reporting.
• Undertake second signatory process and other duties as directed by line manager.
