Job summary

THE FORWARD TRUST in Hull is recruiting a Trainee Drug and Alcohol Practitioner for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role combines hands-on experience with structured training toward a nationally recognised qualification, under supervision from experienced colleagues.

You will shadow a senior team member, split time between practical work and study, and undertake compulsory therapy as part of the traineeship. Regular reviews help track progress toward becoming an independent practitioner.

Qualifications

• Commitment to learning and development toward a nationally recognised qualification
• Understanding of recovery and the needs of vulnerable adults
• Ability to work within professional boundaries and maintain confidentiality
• Good communication and time management skills

Responsibilities

• Support planning and management of a caseload and meet deadlines
• Assist with initial, risk and comprehensive assessments to inform treatment plans
• Help service users develop recovery plans aligned to their needs and goals
• Review ongoing care and treatment in collaboration with healthcare professionals
• Co-facilitate groups and one-to-one sessions in line with standards
• Contribute to multidisciplinary and integrated working for positive outcomes
• Develop skills in data collection and recording for audits and reporting
• Assist with the second signatory process and other duties as directed
