Job summary

GR8 Recruitment is seeking a Trainee Construction Manager in Jersey, open to candidates in Saint Helier. You will learn roadworks, civil engineering, utility and traffic management while working with experienced managers on planning, coordination, safety, and team supervision.

The role offers full training, mentorship from senior managers, and clear progression opportunities within GR8 Recruitment. It is a hands-on, outdoor position that may require flexibility for evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in utility, construction, civil engineering, or roadworks.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
• Willingness to learn and take on responsibility.
• Basic understanding of health and safety practices (training provided).
• IOSH Managing Safely.
• HGV and other machinery licence (preferred; training provided).
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the planning and delivery of roadworks and traffic management projects
• Support site managers in coordinating daily operations on-site
• Ensure all works are carried out in line with health and safety regulations
• Maintain quality control procedures
• Monitor workforce performance and provide support where needed
• Liaise with clients, local authorities, and subcontractors
• Help manage project schedules, materials, and equipment
• Conduct site inspections and ensure compliance with company standards
• Maintain accurate records and reports of site activities including checking, preparing site reports, designs and drawings
• Respond to any on-site issues or emergencies in a timely manner
