Job summary

SSEN Distribution in the UK offers a structured trainee programme to become a Cable Jointer. You will work outdoors on underground electricity networks, training at our dedicated school, with buddying to gain authorisations and hands-on experience across LV and HV networks.

The programme lasts 18–24 months, with salary progression tied to skills and authorisations, and tools/PPE provided. A company vehicle is provided near the end of training, along with flexible benefits and career progression.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing role with the ability to build relationships with customers and stakeholders.
• Strong manual dexterity with hand tools and meter work.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills in a team environment.
• Solid focus on Health & Safety and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cables and perform jointing and terminations.
• Assist on LV and HV networks and relate to safety practices.
• Support excavation, installation, and repair works and refurbishments of substation equipment.
• Work safely and promote a strong safety-first culture.
• Deliver excellent customer service during planned and emergency work.
