Job summary

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks is recruiting a Trainee Cable Jointer to maintain and upgrade the underground electricity network. The programme is 18–24 months, combining training, on‑the‑job experience and portfolio building for authorisation to work on the network.

You’ll start with funded training, see structured salary progression, and gain a company vehicle near the end. This is a hands‑on, outdoor role requiring travel to regional training centres.

Qualifications

• Be customer-focused with a natural ability to build relationships with customers and the public.
• Strong hand skills and ability to use tools to join and terminate cables.
• Thirst for knowledge and training, and ability to learn quickly in a team.
• High focus on Health & Safety and adherence to safety standards.
• Proactive, flexible planning and able to adapt to change while delivering quality work.
• Full UK driving licence required.

Responsibilities

• Preparing cables and carrying out jointing and terminations.
• Assisting on LV and HV networks.
• Supporting excavation, installation and repair works.
• Maintaining safety and promoting a safety-first culture.
• Delivering excellent customer service during planned and emergency work.
