Job summary

Toomey Leasing Group in Basildon, Essex, is recruiting a Trainee Business Development Consultant to join our sales team. You will receive full training, a structured path to progression, and a generous commission package with an OTE of £35k in year one.

The role runs Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, with 22 days holiday plus bank holidays. Salary: £25k basic plus commission and benefits; commissions start from month one.

Trainee Business Development Consultant (Vehicle Contract Hire & Leasing)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Trainee Business Development Consultant to join a privately owned leasing and fleet management company in Basildon, Essex. We are looking for a driven and passionate individual to join our sales team at entry level trainee who are looking to jump straight into their career within a thriving busy workplace environment and supportive team. The role of trainee sales is very important to us. The goal is to help you grow in confidence with a view to bring you fully into the sales team with internal progression opportunities.

You will be working full-time on a permanent basis (Monday- Friday 9am-5pm) and will be met with a competitive salary and 22 days holiday plus bank holidays.

Salary: £25k basic salary + commission + benefits with an OTE of £35k in year 1.

About the Role: An opportunity to join our established sales team in Basildon, Essex. Candidates with a will to learn and be trained in all aspects of sales support and our sales process can expect ongoing support and development, in time to become a full time BDM/Account Manager.

Day to day duties will include:

• Actively and tenaciously seek out new business opportunities via sales, cold calling, networking events and identifying opportunities.
• Prepare, submit, follow up and report on quotations.
• Promptly respond to customer requests, in a professional and efficient manner, providing an exceptional customer service
• Provide technical specialist back-up to the sales team.
• Shadow senior sales members to learn about the day-to-day role, including external sales meetings with new prospects and existing customers.
• Work closely with teams across various departments, i.e., Administration and Marketing to understand the day to day running of our business as well our sales processes.
• Support the sales team fully with day-to-day sales activities, including telesales, marketing activities helping to deliver and improve brand awareness across social media platforms.

About the Candidate:

• No experience necessary as full training provided. However, if you have telesales experience this would be an advantage.
• This is not for the faint hearted – A strong work ethic is imperative with a competitive spirit!
• Good communication skills – written and verbal.
• Ability to engage with customers face to face and via the telephone.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise workload effectively.
• A good team player.
• Presentable and likeable.
• Willingness to learn and develop.
