Job summary

Arriva UK Bus Ltd is offering trainee bus driver positions at our Rhyl depot with full CPC training through the Arriva Training School. Trainees will begin earning an hourly rate and receive comprehensive instruction while you gain experience behind the wheel.

After completing training, you’ll move into post-training pay scales with scheduled shifts up to six weeks in advance, plus opportunities for progression into management or expert driver roles.

Qualifications

• Be over 18 years old with at least 12 months of driving experience.
• Hold a valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
• Pass a drug and alcohol test.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Receive full CPC training at the Arriva Training School and progress to full CPC.
• Earn hourly trainee rate for 12 months, then pay increases as training progresses.
• Rotate shifts 5 out of 7 with a 6–8 week advance schedule to plan your work.
• Family free bus travel and access to staff facilities as part of the role.

Don’t worry if you’ve never driven a bus before, we’ll be with you every step of the way to get you started. With the help of our experienced team and our Arriva Training School, you’ll have all the tools you need for full CPC training, so you’ll be behind the wheel in no time.

We do the right thing at Arriva, that’s why you’ll be earning an hourly rate for trainees for 12 months which rises to £15.80 after 12 months!

Pay Rates:

• Trainee Drivers: £13.45 per hour (first 3 weeks)

Post-training (Trainees):

• Monday to Saturday: £13.45 /hr (rising to £15.80 after 12 months)
• Sunday: £18.70 (rising to £22.00 after 12 months)
• Bank Holidays: £19.13 /hr (rising to £22.50 after 12 months)

Shift Patterns:

• 5 out of 7 rotating shift patterns, planned up to 6‑8 weeks in advance so you can plan around shifts.
• Mornings starting from 04:00, Afternoons from 12:00 and Evenings from 18:00 on a rotational basis.
• We cannot offer fixed early, afternoon or evenings separately.
• Overtime available at request/availability.
