Job summary

Arriva The Shires Limited at Milton Keynes depot is recruiting a Trainee Bus Driver to start your driving career and serve the local community. You’ll help commuters, shoppers and students travel safely on busy routes.

You will receive full paid training to obtain your PCV licence through the Arriva Training School; training lasts about four weeks with onsite mentoring and progression to solo driving with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must be over 18 years of age.
• Have been driving for a minimum of 6 months.
• No more than 6 points on your licence.
• Can pass a drug and alcohol test.
• Great people and customer service skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts.

Responsibilities

• Drive bus routes and ensure timely service to passengers.
• Assist customers, ensure safety on board and with boarding processes.
• Follow Arriva procedures and CPC training; contribute to a positive passenger experience.

Trainee Bus Driver £14.50 - £20.19 per hour

Pay Rate: £14.50 - £20.19 per hour.

During Training (the first 4-6 weeks) - £14.50 per hour. After Training: Base Rate - £14.50. During Training, rising to £18.35 per hour when you start driving solo.

Overtime: £15.70 during training, rising to £20.19 per hour when you start driving solo. Pay rates reviewed via frequent pay negotiations.

Full paid training where you'll receive your PCV licence - you'll go through our Arriva Training School and learn everything you need to know about being a Bus Driver. The training generally last approx. 4 weeks with the first 3 to 5 days at our Luton Depot and the remainder at Milton Keynes, followed by a further few weeks with a Mentor.

Overtime opportunities - extra shifts, bank holidays, all paid at a premium rate.

Hours of Work: 5 out of 7 rotating shift patterns, planned up to 6-8 weeks in advance so you can plan around shifts. Mornings starting from 04:00, Afternoons start from 12:00 and Evenings from 18:00 on a rotational basis. We cannot offer fixed early, afternoon or evenings separately. Overtime available at request / availability.
