Job summary

Arriva Kent Thameside Limited is seeking a Trainee Bus Driver at our Harlow depot to drive buses, assist passengers, and deliver reliable services to the community. The role includes full paid training to obtain a PCV licence, with progression opportunities and overtime at premium rates.

Shifts rotate across early mornings, afternoons and evenings, with a strict no-late policy during training. Benefits include pension and travel perks for you and your family.

• Will need to undergo a drug and alcohol test before assessment.

• Flexible as shifts may start as early as 4 AM.

Responsibilities

• Drive buses on assigned routes and ensure passenger safety.
• Provide good customer service and assist passengers.
• Complete required training and CPC refreshers as needed.

Trainee Bus Driver £12.71 - £17.85 per hour

Pay Rate: £12.71 - 17.85 per hour During Training (the first 4-6 weeks) - £12.71 per hour After Training: Up to 9 months service: £12.71 per hour; Overtime - £13.60 per hour 9+ months service - £16.85 per hour; Overtime - £17.85 per hour

The training generally last approx. 4 weeks and will take place at our Luton depot (for the first week) and the remainder at Harlow, before you then work with a mentor for a further few weeks.

Hours of work and role (once qualified):

A rotating shift pattern of 5 days in 7, published up to 6-8 weeks in advance so you can plan around shifts. Mornings starting from 04:00, Afternoons start from 12:00 and Evenings from 18:00 on a rotational basis. We cannot offer fixed early, afternoon or evenings separately. Overtime available.

• Flexibility as your shifts will start as early as 4AM in the morning but will always work no later than 1AM depending on the time that you start.
