Job summary

Arriva in Telford is recruiting a Trainee Bus Driver to start your driving career with comprehensive training at our Arriva Training School. You’ll learn all essential skills, ride with a mentor after training, and gain a PCV licence while earning a wage.

Expect 5 out of 7 rotating shifts, early starts, and opportunities for overtime with premium rates. We support your development and offer a pension and staff benefits as you progress within the company.

Qualifications

• Must be over 18 years of age.
• Have been driving for a minimum of 6 months.
• No more than 6 points on your licence.
• Can pass a drug and alcohol test.
• Great people and customer service skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts.

Responsibilities

• Drive buses and transport passengers safely on assigned routes.
• Get to know the faces on routes and provide friendly service to customers.
• Help passengers with directions and ensure timely arrivals to schools, shops and other destinations.
• Maintain a courteous and professional manner to support the community.

Trainee Bus Driver

£12.71 - £14.45 per hour

Pay Rate: £12.71 - £14.45 per hour

• During Training (the first 4-6 weeks) - £12.71 per hour

After Training:

• £13.36 per hour
• £14.45 after 6 months service

Pay rates reviewed via frequent pay negotiations.

The training generally last approx. 4 weeks and will take place at our Telford depot, before you then work with a mentor for a further few weeks.

Hours of Work:

• 5 out of 7 rotating shift patterns, planned up to 6-8 weeks in advance so you can plan around shifts.
• Mornings starting from 05:30 and evenings finishing up to 00:10
• Rota consists of a mix of Early, Middle and Late shifts
• The main rota currently has 1 in 4 weekends off with every 1 in 6 weeks accommodating a long weekend which consists of Thursday to Sunday off.
• We cannot offer fixed early, afternoon or evenings separately.
• Overtime available at request / availability.
